Fourth Grade PLC Minutes
March 24, 2016

Members present: Stephanie Coslow, Elaine Beam, Amy Tucker, Morgan Roby, Rachel Brussell, Dr. Scheerhorn and Colleen Yates

* Committee scored writing pieces from another school in the district per Ann Marie Williams request. Good things we noticed: students wrote in complete sentences, students used commas, had a table of contents, good use of hooks and had a beginning, middle and end. Some things that need work are: students only use simple sentences, spelling, need to develop a closing/ending, need to stay focused on topic

* MAP SCORES- Only 9 students scored novice. Math scores look great! Language scores were a little lower than expected.

Members Present: Dr. Scheerhorn, Amy Tucker, Colleen Yates and Elaine Beam

Members Absent: Jeremy Hill, Morgan Roby, Stephanie Coslow, Aletha Abell

* Colleen Yates shared about her Leader in Me School Visit. She was impressed by the murals on the walls, students leading the tour, work posted in the hallway ( no I CAN or Common Core Statement) and how welcoming the school was.

* Common Assessment Review- Amy Tucker noticed that students need to work on citing evidence from the text in Extended Responses. Colleen Yates expressed concern with short answer and extended response and noted that students should be explaining with a math equation.
